Here are links to some pages that I read on a regular basis. If you have a good link, add it to the comments section below for review. Those that the community deems truly good (as defined by consensus in the comments below) we'll promote up to the top level list.

    Sailing

  • http://www.sailinganarchy.com Insider news and great pictures of top sailing races. Excellent discussion forum, but the comments are very technical and probably incomprehensible unless you are an expert racer.
    Climbing
Although I used to be a pretty serious climber, I'm pretty out of touch these days with the climbing community. When I was active, I found that most climbing websites were pretty bad. I used to read rec.climbing newsgroup a lot, but I don't know how active newsgroups are anymore. If you know of good sites, add them to the comments section below.

  • http://www.warriorsway.com The name may sound a bit over the top, but the methods for mental training developed by Arno Ilgner are the best I've ever come across. Success in climbing is ultimately 99% mental and controlling fear and anxiety (while staying alive) is the key to success. This website is not so much an informational one that you'd read on a regular basis, but has info about training courses and material for sale.
    Motorcyle Adventures

  • http://www.advrider.com Discussion forum and great pictures mostly of "Paris-Dakar" style adventure travel. I usually only read the Ride Reports forum. It usually contains high quality posts about peoples adventures. There are riders maintaining long term threads chronicling their round-the-world rides.
  • http://www.horizonsunlimited.com Before you take off on your ride through the Sahara, read this website! It's a community oriented site with a lot of practical information and travel tips. The readership is international and members coordinate regular "Adventure" rider gatherings in North America and other locations around the world.
    Adventure Travel

  • http://www.davestravel.com/index.htm This site has a lot of useful tips for adventure travel along with interesting articles and links to resources. There are a lot of travel sites. This one is nice because it's not just a big advertisement like most of them. There is really nice content here.

BMW MOA website

I just renewed my BMW MOA membership for another two years. They are working hard to improve their online presence. The forums have a lot of useful info if you ride a BMW or you like to travel on your motorcycle. You have to be a BMW MOA member to post to the forums, but they are open for reading to all.

sailing links website

This is a web directory site with a great number of links categorized by content and geographic location.

Mountaineering Website

Here is a climbing link I found on the net. I just started looking at this site. They say that they will have live dispatches from mountaineering expeditions. Stay tuned....

http://www.fieldtouring.com

Here is the description from their homepage. Let me know what you think.

We are the largest and longest established expedition and alpine outfitter in Australia, catering to an extensive world-wide client base.

We specialise in cost effective climbing expeditions and remote alpine treks for independent climbers and walkers

Last season we operated six 7000m climbs, two major 8000m expeditions, a host of alpine and remote based treks, and several sub 6000m trips. While much of our focus is in the Karakoram, we also operate in Nepal, Ecuador , and extensively on Aconcagua.
